We were at a big barbecue and I brought my camera because I really wanted to take advantage of the golden hour scene and the variety of people I would be able to photograph. It was one of those days, though, where I couldn't get motivated to actually take my camera out of the bag. Nothing called out to me as being portrait worthy until I saw Charlie playing his guitar. I've come to realize that taking pictures of someone singing is a difficult task. No matter how hard you try to time it perfectly, the subject always seems to have a weird facial expression (often with the mouth open). You definitely have to fire off more frames to find a keeper, but it's worth it. Pictures of people singing captures a unique mood, and I like the peaceful country feel of this photograph.

It was this scene which got me out of my slump that day. All of a sudden the evening was full of many photo ops, and I had fun trying to capture them all.
