The Woodhouse Spa

1009 Spa

One of the events I shot last week was the grand opening for the Woodhouse Spa here in Lubbock (site here). One of my tasks was to get a shot of each of the rooms for their website. I spent over an hour trying to photograph eight or nine different rooms during this grand opening event. [Read More...]

There were a lot of challenges with this shoot. First of all, my only wide angle lens is the kit lens that came with my camera. Though this lens does great for snapshots, it's not really a lens you can really rely on professionally. Second, the lights were pretty low, so shooting had to be done on my video tripod (not the easiest thing to shoot stills with) and all the pictures held a strong tungsten glow. Third, the place was packed with people touring the new facility.

I did have my fabulous assistant/wife there with me the whole time, which was a HUGE help. She's always helping remember to shoot certain things, and she carries tripods and reflectors like nobody's business. I love it when she's there to help.

This event was so fancy that they had two male models (I'm pretty sure they were Texas Tech football players) opening the doors for visitors. It was a good experience for me, and I continue to learn new things every time I go out and shoot.
